Minimum wage: Nationwide Strike Will begin at 12 am on Thursday

Comrade Ayuba Wabba
The Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC), has resolved to embark on nationwide strike over minimum wage.

The strike will start with a seven-day warning strike which will commence on Wednesday at midnight, meaning that all the workers across the country have been directed to stay at home on Thursday morning.

This information was gotten from a message NLC President, Comrade Ayuba Wabba, sent to all their affiliate unions, mandating them to mobilize their members across the country to stay away from office starting from Thursday morning.
According to Wabba, despite the 14 days ultimatum issued two weeks ago by the Labour congress, the government has refused to acknowledge their notice.

The content of the message is as follows:
Good morning comrade, this is to update you on the meeting of organized Labour yesterday in Lagos.
We reviewed the struggle for the actualization of the minimum wage and the statutory 14 days notice we issued to Government.
It was observed that The notice had not been acknowledged and there was no effort to meet our demands or any official correspondence or dialogue.
Accordingly, organized Labour resolved that a 7-day warning strike shall commence nationwide midnight of Wednesday 26th September 2018.
Labour Centre's and affiliate unions are requested to issue notice to all their affiliates and state councils this morning.
